Aiden loves nothing more than to spar with his Mommy and Daddy in some sort of make-believe battle. Sometimes we are boxers fighting in a match, other times we are Power Rangers (who he has never seen on TV, yet he has learned about them from other kids at school), sometimes we are Transformers (again, never seen them, just heard about them from friends) and some days we are superheroes. (Goes to show you that no matter how diligent you are about trying to avoid violent TV and movies, boys will be boys and learn all about those characters through friends!)
The other day, Aiden and his daddy were playing sword fight with Aiden's foam swords, and his daddy whacked him in the chest. Aiden got horribly upset, on the verge of tears, and told his Daddy "Don't hit me in the chest! You'll hurt Jesus! He's in my heart and I don't want you to hurt him!"
Aiden has taken the whole idea of having Jesus in his heart quite literally. He's very protective of his Jesus, making sure He is well fed and safe from harm. I'm not quite sure how to straighten it all out for him, so for now, I just let him imagine that a tiny Jesus has taken up residence in his chest. I'm sure Jesus won't mind the confusion!
