Aiden-son

This afternoon, Aiden had a private lesson with Mr. Linkletter, one of his instructors at his tae kwon do school. We are trying to get him prepped for his next belt test, coming up on the 23rd of this month, so we scheduled a little one-on-one time to get him ready. After practicing his forms and one-steps and self-defense grabs, all of the stuff he needs to know for his belt test, Mr. Linkletter taught Aiden a few new things, to pique his interest and get him excited. He showed Aiden a couple of new moves, he played some fun games with him, and then...he pulled out the practice boards.

First he let him try breaking boards using a palm-heel strike. Aiden progressed all the way through the 8-9 year-old boards. Then he showed him how to break them using a side kick. This was a little harder, since Aiden doesn't have the best balance, but he eventually got through those boards to the 8-9 year-old level, as well (although he had a little help from Mr. Linkletter's strategic "holding" of the boards with those). Aiden was jazzed to try it out, and lucky for you all, I had my camera in my bag today. Check out the videos:
