Halloween and a Birthday

I know I'm late in posting these, but things have been a little crazy. Halloween was lots of fun this year because BRAD WAS HOME!  The past two years, Brad has either been deployed or away at school, so it was so much fun having him here to share in the experience. We all donned our costumes, then trooped over to the Halloweenie Roast at the Fort Leavenworth Fire Dept. We enjoyed hot dogs and chips and checking out the costumes of our friends and neighbors. Aiden even won "Most Spooktastic" in the costume contest for his zombie (which was pretty awesome, if I do say so myself).

Like the intestines hanging from the shirt?

My sweet little witch, who insisted she was scary while she cackled at everyone.

Mmmm...brains.

Saturday was my birthday and had a great day. Brad made me breakfast while I slept in--Bananas Foster French Toast, eggs, and bacon. YUM! The kids came and woke me up, bringing me cards and bouncing on me, singing Happy Birthday. Later in the afternoon, we had cake with some friends and I opened my gifts--a necklace and earrings from my favorite local jewelry store, Lu's, as well as a ring and bracelets that Aiden picked for me. Aubrey gave me a pair of adorable slipper socks that look like monkeys--I smile every time I wear them.

That evening, Brad and I got a sitter and went to dinner at a local farm-to-table restaurant, Justus Drugstore. The food was ah-mazing. From the drinks that were crafted from house-infused liquors and bitters, to food made from the freshest local ingredients, and sumptuous desserts that were to-die-for, it was an incredible meal, made all-the-better by the company, my sweet husband. It was a nice, grown-up evening out.
